AN APPEAL has been launched after dead goats and an animal’s carcass have been found in Hampshire.

The skinned remains of an unknown animal were found dumped in a lay-by on Ryedown Lane, between Romsey and East Wellow on Sunday.

This comes after a goat was discovered in fields behind Cunningham Crescent, in Bursledon just a week after another goat’s carcass was found dumped in the same street.

Another dead goat was found in a car park in Fareham earlier this week.

All the animals were found without tags, meaning their owners cannot be identified.

Hampshire police said they are “not aware” of any reports of goats being stolen.

A spokesman for the force said they are not relating the finding of the animal’s carcass in Romsey to the dead goats.

But he added: “The Romsey report was made to us at around 10am.

“However, having looked at this there is no mention of this being a goat, or of it being linked to the goat incidents in Cunningham Gardens – it simply relates to an animal carcass suspected to have been dumped on Ryedown Lane.

“We have received reports of two incidents in which dead goats were found in Bursledon.

“Officers have been in contact with the RSPCA.”

A spokesperson for the RSPCA urged anyone with information to come forward and contact 0300 123 8018.
