THERE is still an opportunity for residents who would like hold an event as part of next year’s Romsey Festival.

A public meeting for existing and potential participants is set to be held at the town hall in Romsey on February 6 at 7.30pm.

The event will give residents and groups the opportunity to suggest their ideas ahead of the celebration which will start on July 4, 2020.

As previously reported, more than 40 groups have already committed to taking part in the next festival.

Romsey Abbey has also been announced as a venue to host some of the music, and the bells will also ring in the villages for what will be the 12th event.

The festival will give residents the opportunity to enjoy a series of events ranging from concerts to exhibitions, street entertainment to solo performers.

There will also be the chance to enjoy tours of Romsey’s best gardens, concerts in several local churches while popular venues such as Mottisfont Abbey, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and King John’s House will hold entertaining events.

Those who would like to take part are encouraged to attend the meeting on February 6.

They should ensure their event is held between July 4 and July 19 in the south of Test Valley, from Kings Somborne to the Southampton City boundary.

Vice-chairman of Romsey Festival, Mark Edgerley, said: “We are aiming to have around 50% of the events as free to participate, all events have to be open to general public.

“If you have an idea for an event please come along to the meeting and share your ideas.”

He said additional sponsors were also needed.
