YOUNG students have been treated to a lesson with a difference.

Storyteller Michael O’Leary has visited students at Braishfield Primary School to mark the National Storytelling Week which will start tomorrow.

He regaled the youngsters with animated tales of pirates, which is what the pupils have been learning about in recent lessons. The interactive session saw the children join in, singing along to songs.

Mr O’Leary said: “It was a pleasure to work with the pupils at Braishfield Primary, who were so engaged and a credit to their teachers. I hope the lively storytelling inspires them to tell their own stories and share the magic of storytelling with their families.”

The storytelling was made possible thanks to David Wilson Homes, which is working on its Kings Chase and Highgrove Gardens developments in Romsey.

Headteacher Mrs Rhodes said: “The children had such a brilliant time and we’re very grateful to Michael and David Wilson Homes for the exciting storytelling session. Activities like this really complement the learning pupils undertake in other lessons.”

David Wilson Homes’ sales director Michelle Storer said they had been thrilled to get involved in the community.
