THE Romsey Ladies Choir have raised £1,000 for a good cause.
The money raised through a concert, will go towards the Romsey-based George’s Trust.
The charity was set up in memory of George O’Brien, who died of cancer when he was aged 17.
The concert was a mixture of songs from the Romsey Ladies and OCTAVI-US, a four-part a capella group.
The cheque was presented by Win, one of the choir members and George’s grandmother to George’s mother Jane O’Brien.
Over the past five years George’s Trust has awarded £60,000 to Teenage Cancer Trust in aid of their Southampton cancer unit.
The Trust supports research and treatment of cancer in teenagers and young adults, local youth organisations in the Romsey and Winchester area and the Romsey Abbey Choir in providing choral scholarships.
The Romsey Ladies Choir rehearses on Friday evenings in Romsey. To get involved call June on 01794 515322.
