BASINGSTOKE Rugby Football Club has applied for planning permission to modernise some of its facilities.

An application has been submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council by the club to upgrade the existing changing rooms at its Pack Lane home and create new changing rooms for players and officials.

The proposal will provide approximately 143 square metres of additional floor space of purpose-built changing rooms with ancillary shower and toilet facilities for players and officials.

League officials have also checked over the proposed application and are happy the upgrade would be compliant with regulations.

A planning design statement read: “The existing clubhouse is a single-storey flat roof building.

“The extension to the building will match the existing, in terms of scale and materiality, creating minimal impact on the building site.

“There are no other buildings in this area of the site other than stands and huts.”

The main aim for the proposal is to give both home and visiting players more space, as well as officials.

In the application, the club states there will be minimal impact to the existing site as well as the surrounding environmental impact.

The planning statement indicates the only change to the current facilities would be the extension to the clubhouse, with adequate parking already available on the site.

The statement added: “The two-day parking surveys confirm that there is ample capacity at the existing two car parks which are close to the rugby club.”
