"Our response teams are working with the emergency services to assist. Until this can be done no further trains will be able to pass through the area."

All lines through the area were blocked.

"We are very sorry for any delay this may cause," the spokesperson said.

A spokesperson from National Rail said emergency services were called at around 8.50pm.

"The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst, blocking all lines. As a result, trains between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised," the spokesperson said.

"We anticipate that disruption will continue until the end of service."
