TRIBUTES have been paid to a motorcyclist who died in a crash in Hampshire.

More than a dozen floral tributes have been laid beside the A27, near Sherfield English, following the fatal collision on Sunday (April 7).

The motorcyclist, who was riding a black Honda motorbike at the time of the crash, has been named locally as 22-year-old Roy Baker from West Dean, near Salisbury.

The coroner's office has confirmed it has received a file from Hampshire Police.

Friends have since left tributes at the scene of crash, including flowers and bottles of beer.

One tribute said: "Dear Roy, you will forever be missed by everyone, fly high. Miss you forever."

Another said: "You were given to us for only a short time but God had plans for such a young gentle friendly man as you."

Hampshire Police say Mr Baker's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Police are also appealing for information about the incident, which took place around 3.15pm on Saturday.

Officers say a beige-coloured Mini and a black Honda motorbike, being ridden by Mr Baker, were both travelling in the direction of Whiteparish when they collided.

PC David Hazlett said: “Officers received information that a vehicle slowed down at the scene to drive around the collision site before continuing on towards Romsey.

“This vehicle is a potential witness to the incident.

"Unfortunately we don’t have any descriptions of this vehicle, so if this was you please contact us so we can talk about what you saw.

“Equally, anyone who witnessed this collision or has any information that could assist our enquiries is encouraged to call us.”
