ROMSEY students finished the term with their Spring production.

Year 5 students from Romsey Abbey Church of England Primary School took to the stage to showcase their production called Out of This World to their friends and family.

The musical which has an environmental message was directed by music teacher Marion Maxley.

Marion said: “The musical begins when a spaceship from Earth lands on an unknown planet.

“The Captain and the ill-assorted crew are frightened by an alien life-form, the Choopies, and both are trapped by the ruthless aliens, the Geekoids.

“This musical has a lesson for us all too, as the Geekoids had consumed all of the resources on the planet so by the end of their adventure the space crew had also learned from the Choopies to be more considerate with planet Earth – an environmental message we all need to follow!”.

Marion said that the pupils “dazzled” the audience and she described their performance as “humorous.”

She added: “Everyone really enjoyed this lively musical experience which was a story of triumph of good over evil as the Choopies were peaceful beings even though their appearance was initially frightening.”

Lisa O’Donohoe, the class teacher of year five thanked parents and pupils for their efforts.

She said: “The pupils and their parents did a marvellous job of making wonderful costumes and were amazing with the amount of energy and enthusiasm they put into learning the songs and dances – we were all really proud of their performances”

The pupils also expressed their thoughts about the production.

One Year 5 said that “being in it was amazing!” and another said: “It was good to help us learn, in a fun way, about saving our planet.”

The next day the whole school attended an Easter service in Romsey Abbey.

During the service the pupils placed flowers to make a floral cross which can now be seen outside the Abbey School.
