A ROMSEY group for retired people celebrated it’s 20th birthday.

More than 110 people came together to celebrate 20 years of the Romsey & District U3A anniversary afternoon tea at Crosfield Hall.

Cllr Dorothy Baverstock who represents the Romsey and Cupernham ward attended the event as she helped to set up the group.

Marion Fowler, 77, who has recently stepped down as chairman after four years said it was a “lovely event.”

People of 50 can join the organisation and set up groups such a photography, walking and fishing for members to take part in.

Marion said: “It’s a great way for retired people to give back.

“It is also a great social thing and a good way to prevent loneliness.”

The group meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 10.30am at Crosfield Hall in Broadwater Road.
