A ROMSEY football team have scooped the winning cup at a summer football tournament.

The yellow team from Romsey Town Youth FC for the under twelve’s won in their age category at the Romsey town six aside competition which took place on June 15.

John Hilferty who has coached the team alongside Simon Rogers for the past five years said: “Throughout the competition the team did not concede any goals in open play due to outstanding goalkeeping from Ashneel Bannerjee and Oscar Ruber.

“ Impressive defensive displays by Joshua Hilferty and Benny Hoggarth kept opposing attacking players quiet and at bay.

“Our forward players showed great creativity causing problems for the opposition with Hugo Rawling, Alex Newman and Louie Palmer providing assists and scoring goals galore. “Great performances all round from a great bunch of players with massive team spirit.”

The team which is currently made up of 13 members was split into the blue team and the winning yellow team.
