EMERGENCY services have been called after a trespasser was spotted on the railway line between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth.

All lines are currently blocked in the area as police and Network Rail deal with the incident, which happened at about 8.30pm.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

A South Western Railway statement said: "We have been informed of a trespasser on the railway between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth. Network Rail staff and the police are trying to assist the individual to a place of safety.

"For the safety of all those involved, the power to the track has to be switched off, which means that trains are unable to run between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth in both directions.

"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."

The incident comes a day after a man who fell onto the railway line near Boscombe was airlifted to hospital.
