IT WAS smiles all round at this year’s Winchester Party in the Park.
Residents from across city gathered at Somers Close Recreation Ground in Stanmore for a free family day out, featuring entertainment, activities and a children’s funfair.
Live music was provided by a number of acts throughout the day, including The Romsey Old Cadets, which formed back in 1963 when a group of friends from the Romsey area decided they would enter a local carnival dressed as Arabs, or as they titled themselves “The Sons of the Sand”.
Salsa Y Sol, a dance company that started in Preston Candover and now hosts lessons at The Discovery Centre, put on a show, encouraging the spectators to get up and dance.
The event was organised by residents and tenant representatives in partnership with Winchester City Council, A2Dominion and The Carroll Centre.
