DOZENS of comic book fans were treated to a Beano day at a town information centre.

The Romsey Visitor Information Centre, Church Street, hosted the event which saw employees dress up in classic red and black t-shirts.

Approximately 50 children flocked to the the event on July 27 which was designed to support the Beano Time Travellers! exhibition at Mottisfont.

Ali Campion, a 63-year-old employee at the information centre, said: "It was a bit of fun, there was a quiz for the children involving Beano characters and there was some slime for them to play with.

"I think the children had quite a lot of fun and Julia West our manager had some sweets for them as well."

Beano enthusiasts also had the opportunity to try their hand at drawing comic book strips and marvel at Beano annuals from 10am to 2pm.

Ali added: "We really enjoy our open days and it reminds people what we do and we also have quite a lot of visitors from outside of the area.

"We do several open days a year and all of them are different themes. In the past we had a day about fishing and we went round town with a fishing net. We have also done a day about bees."
