PUPILS from a Romsey school entered the world of literature as part of this year’s Hampshire Book Award.
Year 8 pupils from The Romsey School, Greatbridge Road, participated in the award organised by the School Library Service.
The school’s panel of judges was comprised of children and had to read six books over the summer term.
The team attended a meeting every two weeks in the library to discuss the books and score their results based on the storyline, content, characterisation and enjoyment.
Schools from all over Hampshire take part and then meet to choose the winner.
Pupils travelled to Applemore College to take part in the final voting day where after much deliberation the winning book was announced – Shell by Paula Rawsthorne.
The students are hoping to meet the author in Winchester during the autumn term.
