ANDOVER Town hit the post twice in the first half and once in second and ironically visiting Newport’s winner clipped the post on the way in, writes ELLIOTT BINKS.

The home side's Ben Emans hit the post on 20 minutes and a couple of minutes later Connor Kelly curled one in off the upright from 20-yards to give the Isle of Wight side the lead.

Town looked better after manager Ron Bertie had Emans and Josh Bertie switch flanks on 30 minutes.

Emans hit the post as it remained 1-0 at half-time.

Andover's Thomas Pattinson was denied by the upright after bursting through late on.

Town had countless chances in the last few minutes but could not get a deserved equaliser.

Andover this Saturday entertain Fawley and on Wednesday are away to Folland Sports in a Hampshire Senior Cup first round tie.
