HARTLEY Wintney start their quest for FA Cup glory on Saturday when Combined Counties Premier Division side Spelthorne Sports visit.

The Southern League Premier South home side will start as favourites for the tie, but the visitors will travel to north Hampshire looking to repeat their great 4-3 FA Cup win only three years ago.

Current boss Anthony Millerick said: “I remember that game and we did not play well. We were 2-1 up before we lost. We have to make sure this time around we are at the top of game, as anything else and we know we can get beaten.”

Hartley would love another run in the competition and in Millerick’s first season with club when they made the third qualifying round in 2015.

The Row warmed up for their FA Cup tie with a 3-2 league win at Dorchester. They took the lead after 44 minutes as Josh Webb’s corner was headed at the back post by Alex Albert.

Three minutes after the break, the Row made it 2-0 as a left wing corner from Webb found Jack Ball to head home.

On 70 minutes, the Row made the game safe with an excellent third goal. Sal Abubakar coming in from the right found Jack French.

The midfielder laid the ball off to Tom Bird who fired in a fierce shot from 25 yards out into the top corner.

The home side pulled a goal back from Tom Blair and then in the ninth minute of added on time Tom Bath got their second.

Talking about his side’s latest win Millerick said :”I felt for 70 minutes we completely dominated the game. For most of the game we looked solid and played much good football. Sal Abubakar had probably his best game for Hartley and continues to improve apace.”
