A SOUTHAMPTON benefits cheat has been ordered to do unpaid work.
Tanya Simmons, 29, dishonestly failed to notify Southampton City Council of a change in circumstances, which would have impacted on her Housing Benefit.
She also failed to notify the Department for Work and Pensions that she was living with her husband – something which would have impacted on her Income Support.
Simmons, of Totland Close, Southampton, admitted two counts of benefit fraud.
She was given a 12 month community order, including 80 hours of unpaid work.
Simmons was also ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge.
