SOUTHAMPTON nightclub Switch has been given a new look as part of a £200,000 redevelopment.
The Above Bar Street venue reopened on August Bank Holiday with back-to-back night events from world renowned party group Elrow.
Work began on the revamp in June and includes a new customer entrance, new ‘festival-style’ staging, a new dancefloor bar and a new sound system.
The revamp also means increased capacity on the club's balconies, which overlook the stage and dancefloor.
Owner Ryan Keary said: “Autumn is always the most important as it sets the tone for the forthcoming year, especially with the new refurb and expectations that it brings.
“What’s most exciting for me is the new production that we’ve added to the club; not only showing the customers, but also the artists, as word spreads quickly on the circuit and that makes things easier for future bookings and aspirations.”
Mr Keary added: “Every year is getting better in terms of calibre of brands and artists we are able to attract to Switch.
“We’re starting to get a great reputation across the UK which motivates and reassures that we’re on the right path.”
Later this year the club, which has a capacity of 1250, will welcome legendary DJ Shy FX, as well as house music star Hannah Wants.
The club is also involved in Docklands Festival, which will take place in Hoglands Park on September 28.
