I was interested to read that vegans and vegetarians could be 20 per cent more likely to suffer a stroke but less likely to have heart disease. I have been thinking of becoming vegetarian because we are led to believe that it is healthier lifestyle. I also worry about animal welfare in the meat industry but am somewhat placated by knowing that the UK meat industry has some of the highest standards of hygiene and welfare in the world

In reality our bodies over aeons have evolved to need meat in our diet. We are omnivores, we need plant based food, meat and fish to sustain a healthy diet. We always hear moderation in all things is the way to a healthy life and i couldn't argue with that sentiment after reading the articles concerning this subject.
