FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a blaze in Fareham this morning after 500 tons of straw went up in flames.

The fire started at around 12.37am and crews from Fareham and Eastleigh were called to tackle the blaze, which started on Triangle Lane.

Two water carriers from Fareham and Eastleigh were used to fight the blaze, which is still ongoing.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: "We have handed it over to the farmer and we will inspect it again at 9.30am."

The cause of the fire is unknown.
