A TEAM from a Romsey law firm helped raise over £6,000 in this year's Southampton Legal Walk.

Seven employees from Thrings Solicitors, Salisbury Road, took part in the walk which raised than £6,500 in support of agencies that offer free legal advice to those in need.

Around 170 legal professionals from Hampshire firms tackled a 10K route around the city on September 17, starting at Southampton’s Combined Court, London Road, and finishing at College Chambers, Carlton Crescent.

The record-breaking figure included £1,000 in sponsorship from Thrings and will go to the London Legal Support Trust.

The trust supports the provision of free specialist legal advice through law centres, advice agencies and the Citizens Advice Bureau in the region.

Team member Sam Longmore, a paralegal in the Romsey office of Thrings, said: “The Legal Walk is a well-supported event and we were pleased to play our part to help agencies giving free legal advice to people who would otherwise struggle to afford it.

"We’d like to thank all the passers-by who gave us encouragement on the way round and all those who sponsored and donated.”
