HUNDREDS of fitness fanatics flocked to participate in Walk the Test Way at the weekend.

Over 500 walkers came to take part in the charity event which lets residents walk across Test Valley for their chosen charity.

The 16th Walk the Test Way gave residents a choice of distances with over 200 walking the full marathon, while others enjoyed a five mile hike.

All participants were taken by coach to their chosen start point along the Test valley and they all walked back into Romsey for the big finish in the Memorial Park.

Walkers were welcomed back to the town where they were presented their medals by Rotary President, Bill Gidley, and Inner Wheel President Sue Arundel.

A spokesperson from Walk the Test Way said: "In total it was calculated that during the day the walkers had walked a total of 9,961miles which is the distance to Australia! The oldest participant was 85 while our youngest enthusiast was only 4 years old."
