HAMPSHIRE MPs have had their say and backed Boris Johnsons' last-minute Brexit deal.

MP for Romsey and Southampton North, Caroline Nokes and Eastleigh MP, Mims Davies have both reacted to leaving the European Union on the October 31 deadline with a deal.

Caroline Nokes has said she will be backing Mr Johnson's deal when the crucial vote takes place on Saturday.

She said: "I have voted three times to leave the EU with a deal, on Saturday I shall make that a fourth time.

"I remain concerned about the impact no deal would have on my constituents and will continue to vote to leave with a deal."

Following days of negotiations, the PM announced that he had struck a “great new deal” shortly before heading to the key summit of EU leaders in Brussels on Thursday.

Mims Davies has said she has "always wanted to deliver" Brexit.

She said: "The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, reached an important new Deal with the EU, which, if accepted by this paralysed House of Commons in a vote this Saturday, will mean that the UK leaves the EU on the 31st October, as the Prime Minister has consistently promised and thereby finally deliver on the Referendum outcome of June 2016.

"As the Member of Parliament for Eastleigh, local people and businesses I have spoken with tell me time and time again that they want to see Brexit done, they may have voted differently to the result but predominantly there is significant Brexit fatigue and frustration so thereby people want Brexit action.

"I have always wanted to deliver on the outcome of the vote however it transpired and we have had months and months of debate and dither.

"I urge all colleagues cross party to look to back a sensible outcome which the EU 27 have once again signed up to, to avoid no deal and to now act to take this country forward."

Mr Johnson’s battle to get the agreement approved by MPs intensified on Thursday when the DUP ruled out backing the deal.

The PM tweeted: "We've got a great new deal that takes back control, now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday."
