HIGHWAYS chiefs have revealed the final M27 closure date for a £19 million project to replace a bridge across the motorway.
Bosses at Highways England say they will close the M27 between 10pm on Friday, January 10 and 5am on Monday, January 13.
It will be the final closure in the project to replace Romsey Road Bridge, which carries traffic over the motorway between Romsey and Nursling.
The motorway has been closed twice so far due to the works.
The first M27 closure in late 2018 was to demolish part of the old bridge, which highways chiefs say was built in the 1970s and was nearing the end of its life.
It was closed again in June this year as engineers fitted the new bridge.
The work, which involved manoeuvring the pre-built bridge across the motorway, was completed 17 hours ahead of schedule.
However, bosses say they will likely utilise the full closure in January – which will see the motorway closed between junction three for the M271 and junction four for the M3.
In a letter, posted on Twitter by Romsey Town Council, Highways England said: "We have worked closely with Hampshire County Council and Southampton City Council to select the dates for the final M27 Romsey Road Bridge Closure to ensure we minimise the impact to the local communities and businesses.

"The demolition of the east bridge will be taking places from 10pm on Friday, January 10 and 5am on Monday, January 13.
"Please note, however, the Romsey Road Bridge will be closed from 9pm.
"During this time we will make full use of the A3057 closure and will undertake work in the vicinity to assist with the progress of the project.
"We would like to advise that this final closure is likely to utilise the full closure time and we will be advising people to plan their journeys."
Highways England said it will be sending out information about diversion routes prior to the closure.
