A SOUTHAMPTON man who used homophobic abuse towards police officers has been ordered to do unpaid work.
Harry Michael Francis, 21, used threatening or abusive behaviour towards three police officers during an incident in Southampton on August 17.
Southampton Magistrates' Court found the abuse was based on the sexual orientation or presumed sexual orientation of the victim.
Francis pleaded guilty to three counts of using threatening or abusive words of behaviour.
Francis, of Sissinghurst Close, Southampton, was sentenced to a 12 month community order, including 170 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £50 in compensation to each of his three victims, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £90.
