WINCHESTER Distillery has unveiled a new eco-friendly design for its flagship gin.

The Twisted Nose bottle is now made with 20 per cent less glass and 95 per cent less plastic, and is styled to look like a rippling Hampshire chalk stream.

Originally launched five years ago as the company’s first spirit, the new branding is hoped to elevate the gin to a UK-wide and international brand.

Paul Bowler, owner of Winchester Distillery, said: "Twisted Nose was the first gin I created, which launched back in 2014. With the growth of the business and successful crowdfunding campaign earlier this year, it was the right time to reinvigorate Twisted Nose.

"The new design perfectly captures all the key elements of our delicious, flagship gin and will help us take it to a new level."

The gin is made with watercress. The botanical name for watercress, Nasturtium officinale, translates as “twisted nose”, which was the inspiration for the name.

Hampshire watercress is combined with juniper and eight other botanicals, including coriander seed grown in the South Downs and lavender from Long Barn in Alresford to produce Twisted Nose.

The new bottle will be available from mid-November.
