THE job losses experienced at a major employer in Winchester were to a lesser extent than originally thought.

Last month Simplyhealth announced that following discussions with employees a number had left their positions.

And now the provider of health, dental and pet health plans have confirmed that 27 employees from the city office were made redundant.

It was originally thought that 195 members of staff would be let go overall but following a reorganisation of teams this was reduced to 139.

In Andover 88 workers were made redundant, along with 24 field-based employees.

Richard Gillies, Chief Operating Officer, at Simplyhealth: “Following the recent reorganisation of our business, we’re pleased to share that we have significantly reduced the expected number of redundancies across Simplyhealth from a proposed 195 to 139. Our HR team and leaders have worked closely with our colleagues who were at risk of redundancy to find alternative opportunities for them wherever possible, and so reduce the final number of people leaving us.

“We’re continuing to invest and develop our talent at Simplyhealth to ensure we meet the future healthcare needs of our customers. Through this investment, and our new business model, we have a number of exciting roles being advertised in key areas such as digital and IT, marketing and sales, and product development.”
