BASINGSTOKE Town suffered another away league defeat losing 3-1 at play-off chasing Evesham.

Dragons boss Dan Brownlie was forced to make three changes to the side which beat Bideford AFC last weekend, as injury and illness ruled out D'Andre Brown, Scott Armsworth and Aidan Harris, so in came Archie Saunders, Ryan Sucking and Harrison Cliff.

The home side took the lead after three minutes, as a free-kick from Town’s Dean Stow was cleared and a great move down the pitch was converted by Lee Chilton.

The visitors hit back straight away as Jordan Edwards equalised with a great shot from 25-yards out.

Town then nearly took the lead, but Bradley Wilson was denied.

Visiting goalkeeper Freddie Gee was called into action to make a great save from a Dan Bragoli’s header.

Then in added on time at the end of the first half Gee tipped over a snap-shot from Chilton.

Straight after the interval Gee made another save from Jordan Sangha.

Then on 51 minutes, Evesham made it 2-1 as Chilton tapped in at the near post from a corner.

Just after the hour mark, Jonathan Brown in the home goal was forced into a double save as he denied Ben Wright and Wilson.

Town then had the ball in the net on 79 minutes, as Cliff produced the final touch on a Claudio Herbert header, but it was ruled offside.

The home side then made the game safe, as Chilton chased a lost cause and provided the cross, which Aaron Basford finished at the far post with four minutes left.

This Saturday, Town are on their travels again to Cirencester.
