A TEENAGER who injured himself in an acid incident at Eastleigh Station last month is set to return from bail.

The 16-year-old, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of procession of a weapon capable of discharging a noxious substance after the incident and after being released from hospital, the boy was granted bail.

Officers have now confirmed that the bail period has ended and he is due to return in order for the police to make their decision on whether to charge him, release him or give him a further bail period.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "He was released on bail pending further enquiries, and his date for return is tomorrow (December 20). We will know more on Monday around what's happened."

This comes after a fleet of emergency services vehicles were rushed to the scene at Eastleigh Station on November 2, after the youngster injured himself in an incident involving a 'noxious substance' believed to be acid on one of the platforms.

He was treated at the scene by the Ambulance Service, and the Hazardous Area Response Team, before being taken to hospital where he was further treated for his non life threatening injuries.

The injuries were not believed to be caused by an assault and police enquiries suggested nobody else was involved in the incident.
