ONE OF Test Valley's most popular events in the calender year will return this month.

Test Valley Borough Council’s Big Band Buffet, which promises to be even bigger in 2020, will once again offer visitors the chance to enjoy an afternoon full of live music while meeting with friends and speaking to new people - as well as offering a spread of food.

The event, featuring the Clive Fortune Big Band, will have a number of speakers from community organisations who will offer advice on safety, how to keep active and how best to stay healthy.

The speakers for the event include Hampshire Constabulary, the NHS, Age Concern and Places Leisure.

Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will present information on crime prevention and home and fire safety, while representatives of the Police and Crime Commissioner will also attend.

Community and leisure portfolio holder, councillor Tony Ward, said: “Every year this event proves to somehow be more popular than the last, and with even more speakers at the 2020 event, I’m sure this will be no different.

“Residents often tell me how much they appreciate this event and it’s a credit to the council and to the partner organisations that we can help to offer something like this.”

The event is also sponsored by the Police and Crime Commissioner.

It will take place on January 25 at Test Valley School in Stockbridge.

The event will host a buffet between 11am and 3pm for residents over the age of 55.
