TODAY we launch the search for the Basingstoke Gazette Sports Personality for 2019 to follow in the footsteps of former world champion indoor bowler Nicole Rogers
The winner of the award will be revealed at the Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards, which will be held at the Apollo Hotel on Friday, February 28, which of course is the most prestigious evening in the town's sporting calendar.
Once again this year there is no short list so the decision is entirely up to you the readers of the Gazette.
However, you may consider a member of the promotion winning Basingstoke Hockey Ladies team or Hook and Newnham Basics cricket team, or maybe a martial arts world champions.
Your vote could also go to a player of Basingstoke Town or Hartley Wintney football teams or one of the stars of the Basingstoke Bison or Basingstoke RFC.
To vote simply send the name of your winner along with your name and address in an email to sportsdesk@basingstokegazette.co.uk and make sure it reaches us by midday on Wednesday, January 29 to make sure it counts.
