A FOURTH person has been charged as part of a probe into reports of gunfire and later the discovery of a body in a Southampton river.

Police say a 17-year-old boy from Southampton has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and conspiracy to possess a firearm.

It comes after the body of Sol Hemy was found in the River Itchen at Riverside Park in Southampton on September 5.

Police say around 1am that morning they received reports of gunshots in the street.

A large amount of cannabis was found at an address and in a nearby vehicle, abandoned in Riverside Park.

Police charged three men last week with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and conspiracy to possess a firearm, plus being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Robert Johnston, 24, of Tennyson Avenue has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and conspiracy to possess a firearm.

Johnston will appear at Southampton Crown on February 21.

Fardeen Hamidy, 26, of Bursledon Road, Southampton, has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and conspiracy to possess a firearm.

Hamidy will appear at Southampton Crown on February 21.

Christy Flaherty, 26, of Malmesbury Road, Southampton, has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and conspiracy to possess a firearm, plus being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. Flaherty will appear at Southampton Magistrates on February 3.

The 17-year-old boy appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court today and will next appear at Southampton Crown Court on February 7.

A 28-year-old man from Gosport arrested on suspicion of murder has been re-bailed until March 11 to allow for further enquiries.

The 32-year-old man from Winchester who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender will have no further action taken against him.
