EMERGENCY roadworks to repair a main road in Romsey after a gas leak erupted will not be fixed until tonight.
Hampshire County Council have revealed temporary traffic lights will be at the roundabout in Winchester Road, which links to Botley Road, until 8.30pm.
The roadworks should be completed by Southern Gas Network in time for the M27 closure, which begins at 10pm tonight.
This comes after a gas leak broke out at 7.02am yesterday.
A spokesperson from Southern Gas Network said: "Our engineers have made great progress with emergency repairs to our gas main at the roundabout in the junction of Botley Road and Winchester Road in Romsey.
"The repair work is now complete and we’re currently in the process of restoring the road surface.
"All going well, we hope to remove the temporary traffic lights by 8.30pm tonight (Friday 31 January)."
