MOTORISTS are being urged to avoid a main road in Test Valley, due to a fallen tree blocking traffic in both directions.

The tree came crashing down along the A27 from Gardeners Lane, Shootash, to the A3090, Romsey.

Now congestion is building along the road after the tree was spotted by a driver at 9.43am this morning.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said they have passed the incident onto "Hampshire police and Highways England", who deal with fallen trees.

A spokesperson from Hampshire police also said "Highways England are dealing with trees falling on roads".

Highways England has been contacted for comment.
