ROMSEY commuters are being warned of delays until the end of today on South Western Railway services.

The railway company announced this morning trains running through Romsey and Chandlers Ford have been suspended, due to crew shortages.

Other stations which will have no service today are Dean and Mottisfont & Dunbridge.

Now South Western Railway (SWR) has pledged to provide replacement buses to run on the following routes: Southampton Central to Romsey in both directions calling at St Denys, Swaythling, Southampton Airport Parkway, Eastleigh and Chandlers Ford.

Two buses per hour will run in each direction from 9am.

Replacement buses will also run on the following routes: Southampton Central to Salisbury in both directions calling at Millbrook, Redbridge, Romsey, Mottisfont & Dunbridge and Dean.

Two buses per hour will run in each direction.

Buses will not pick up passengers from Romsey station, but at bus stops on the A3057.

In Redbridge passengers will be picked up at the bus stops by the Shell garage.

Great Western Railway services between Portsmouth and Cardiff Central will only run between Salisbury and Cardiff Central.

SWR tickets will be accepted on Great Western services while Great Western tickets will be accepted on SWR.

This comes after a landslide caused major disruption to all train services running between Romsey and Salisbury.

Services between the two stations will be cancelled, delayed or revised with disruption expected until the end of March.

A torrent of mud and debris last week caused significant damage to an embankment which now needs "substantial" repair work.

SWR has been contacted for comment.
