A TOWN football club has announced they will been running an FA sponsored centre for girls, kicking off later this year.

Romsey Town Youth Football Club, who have teamed up with Personal Best Education, revealed they will be providing a Wildcats Centre in a bid to promote girls football within the club.

This comes as the town celebrated International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, and the centre is due to be up and running by September 1.

A spokesperson from Romsey Town Youth Football Club said: "Wildcats is a girls only centre for five to 11-year-olds with a focus on the key elements of sport with a football slant.

"Wildcat centres have been established across the country and provide a safe environment where girls can have fun engaging with sport, make new friends, develop fundamental skills and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport.

"We are aiming to have our Wildcats Centre up and running by the start of September."
