A SOUTHAMPTON man died in hospital after suffering a fall at home.
Peter Cornwall, 86, fell at his home in Westwood Road, Portswood, on February 17, an inquest was told.
Mr Cornwall fell and activated his Careline pendant, alerting a carer who attended and raised the alarm. An ambulance took Mr Cornwall to Southampton General Hospital. He died on March 11.
No post mortem was held but Dr Matteo Ferrari, who had cared for Mr Cornwall, said there were several factors causing his death: hospital-acquired pneumonia, a duodenal ulcer, a bone fracture that was operated on, community-acquired pneumonia, ankylosing spondylitis and asbestos-related pulmonary fibrosis.
Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson adjourned the inquest until July 13, a provisional date, he said, given the public health crisis.
