CASES of coronavirus in Hampshire have risen by 85 confirmed cases to 652.

In 24 hours the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county have gone from 567 to 652.

This makes Hampshire the third worst affected area from the virus across the UK.

In Southampton, cases have jumped from 76 to 100 confirmed coronavirus cases in 24 hours.

It comes following the announcement that 11 coronavirus patients have died at University Hospital Southampton.

Nationally, there have been 29,474 confirmed cases of the virus - this is up by 4,324 since yesterday.

The death toll in the UK has risen by 563 in just 24 hours, making the number of deaths a total of 2,352 up from 1,789 yesterday.

The jump is by far the biggest day-on-day rise in the number of deaths since the outbreak began.
