AN APPEAL for information has been launched as part of a burglary that targeted a village home.

Police are now looking into the incident in which money and pieces of jewellery were stolen from an address on Locks Road, in Locks Heath.

This involved two sentimental items to the victim - namely a diamond ring and a Tiffany bracelet.

It took place between 2pm on Saturday March 28 and 12.50pm on Saturday April 4.

Officers are now keen to speak with anyone who may be able to assist in their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "Were you in the area at the time? Did you see anything suspicious over the weekend?

"Maybe you have been offered or seen some items of jewellery for sale?

"We are particularly keen to locate two items of sentimental value to the victim, a diamond ring and a Tiffany bracelet."

Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 44200120730 or alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

As a result, police are reminding residents to do the following to protect their home:

1) Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if going out for a few minutes

2) Double-lock any door

3) Make sure all valuables are out of sight

4) If you have a quantity of valuable jewellery, consider storing it in another safe location such as a safety deposit box

5) Keep handbags away from the letterbox or cat flap and hide all keys, including car keys, as a thief could hook keys or valuables through even a small opening

6) In the evening, shut the curtains and leave the lights on

7) Set your burglar alarm

8) Make sure side and rear gates are secure and locked

9) Register all property for free on immobilise.com.
