A HAMPSHIRE theatre company has taken its successful murder mystery events online.

Southampton based Murdered For Money sold out its first ever virtual event last week, attracting 400 participants from across the UK and as far afield as Australia and America.

A second is now under way.

Owner Bridget Wilkinson told the Daily Echo: “It is two weeks to the day since I cancelled all our live events for the foreseeable future, and faced a future of no income.

“I was so worried when all events were cancelled and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. But I had a word with myself and said you’ve got to do something and we’ve turned this around in less than two weeks.

“The actors have all been absolutely brilliant and I’m really chuffed with how it’s turned out. People are really getting into it.”

The hundreds of households participating in topical murder mystery Beware the Isolated Easter Bunny are busy solving the crime.

Spread over 7 nights, there are clues to unravel, video footage to analyse, suspects to question and prizes to be won.

It unveils the story of online retailer, Andazoom, which hosts its gala banquet in the heart of London to unveil the winner of their Easter Egg of the Year competition. With over 4000 entries received from prestigious chocolate factories across the world, competition is fierce.

Due to a worldwide pandemic the gala is unable to go ahead as planned, but not to be defeated, the unveiling of the winning egg will now take place online. Will ‘Wonky Chocolates’ grab the prize for the third year in a row, or will the arrival of the Easter Bunny scramble their dreams?

Murdered for Money regularly hosts lavish fully decorated murder mystery events, weekends, afternoon teas, private celebrations, parties and teambuilding events at venues including Rhinefield House Hotel, Nuffield Southampton Theatres and Wentworth Golf Club.

The unusual name is a nod to the company’s charity fundraising. A recent wizarding event raised £800 for Southampton Hospital Charity.

Online murder mysteries currently cost just £2.50 per household.
