CHOCOLATE eggs donated to Access Self Storage’s Easter appeal for Southampton Foster Carers Association (SFCA) have brought the total donated to over 8,000.

Generous customers and businesses visited the storage firm in Third Avenue Millbrook to deliver Easter eggs using a dropbox in reception. Although the appeal had to close early due to government safety restrictions to help tackle the coronavirus, 40 plus eggs were still collected.

Joseph Brown, son of Access Self Storage employee Somaya Brown, dressed up as Peter Rabbit to help count egg donations.

“We are really proud of our community who continued to support us until the Covid-19 lock down began,” said Access Self Storage Southampton Manager Stuart Beyer. “The work of charities like Foster Carers Association has never been in more demand so we are thrilled to collect these eggs which have been given to the children supported by the SFCA.”

SFCA offers activities and social events for fostering families and the children in their care. It gives additional help to foster carers with monthly support groups in two areas of the city.

Eggs collected nationally for 13 charities exceeded 1,100, bringing the total since the appeal began in 2011 to more than 8,000.

Jo Gaul from Southampton Foster Carers’ Association said: “It’s great to receive the chocolate eggs collected by Southampton residents. All donations have gone to children we support.”
