KEEP calm and carry on, Southampton.

The city has been named one of the most relaxing places in the whole of the UK.

A new study has revealed that Southampton residents are some of the most zen around with huge interest in home workouts, yoga and spa treatments, as well as meditation and skincare routines.

The study, by spa booking service SpaSeekers, was based on over 35,000 searches for calming outlets during the coronavirus lockdown.

A spokesperson said: "It's more important than ever that we're all keeping our mental health in check. As a nation, we're looking for ways to take a moment to find some calm in what is a very stressful situation, and it looks like we should all take a leaf out of Southampton's book to reach the perfect level of chill."

In Southampton, meditation and home workouts were the most searched for, revealing a love for keeping both the mind and body fit. At home spa treatments were also of interest to Southampton searchers.

Manchester was named the UK's most relaxing city, followed closely by fellow northern English cities Newcastle and Liverpool, while residents in the Welsh capital of Cardiff and Scotland's capital Edinburgh appear to be the most stressed judging by their search history.

SpaSeekers offers tips on home workouts for those hoping to work up a sweat and release some endorphins and yoga routines for those people stretching their way through isolation.

From recipes for face masks to mindfulness techniques, the company helps suggest at home ways to feel more calm.
