A SOUTHAMPTON date has been added to the UK tour of smash hit West End and Broadway musical comedy Waitress.

It will visit Mayflower Theatre from May 25 to 29 2021.

Meet Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of some happiness in her life. When a hot new doctor arrives in town, life gets complicated. With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.

Brought to life by a ground-breaking, female-led creative team, this ‘warm, witty, wise and hilarious’ (Daily Express) hit features ‘one of the best scores in years’ (The Stage) by the Grammy award-winning Sara Bareilles (Love Song, Brave) a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland).

Waitress initially opened at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2019 and has now ended its West End run, picking up seven WhatsOnStage Award nominations at the end of last year.

Based on the celebrated film of the same name, it follows a young waitress in a diner who dreams of leaving her job and forging a life of her own.

Casting is yet to be announced for the UK tour, which is set to get under way in Bromley in November, and images are of previous productions.
