Once again the Romsey Advertiser (July 17) carries several articles regards probable housing development in Test Valley, including the front page Hoe Lane approval story.

Most of these are accompanied by self-congratulatory comments made by councillors who have supported these developments.

I have one thing to say to these would be politicians. The Strongs Whitbreads brewery site.

Now in its 33rd year of lying abandoned and derelict in the heart of the town, it remains a huge festering scar in what councillors would have you believe is an attractive Market town.

LETTER: Lord Palmerston 'was always a British imperialist first and a "liberal" a poor second' >>>

In January 2016 I wrote to our MP, a letter reproduced in this newspaper, which prompted a reply promising "support to the urgent development of this site".

In February 2019 this newspaper carried an article entitled "Construction work at former brewery site in Romsey could start this year".

Could I ask you to take up the question again, as residents like myself are bound to question the resolve of our council to actually make this their key development priority?
