A SALISBURY business has raised more than £500 for a mental health charity through a sponsored silence.

Twelve employees from Test Valley Packaging arranged a six-hour live-stream on YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn in which each would stay silent in front of the camera for 30 minutes.

The event was organised in the wake of the recent death of one of their colleagues.

At the end of the live-stream, which took place yesterday, a spokesperson from the company said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that donated and watched our 6 hour live stream silence.

"The team at TVP did a fantastic job and not only did we raise money and awareness for Mind Charity and mental illness, the message hit hard for some viewers and the team.

"Staying completely silent for 30 minutes each or watching a 6 hour stream of complete silence is an effective way of showing how people who struggle with mental illness may feel.

"With a total of 5.5k viewers we managed to hit and exceed our £500 target of donations, this is going directly to Mind Charity to help those in need.

"Once again, thank you to our supporters and team for doing a great job!"
