PLANS to build 12 flats, which would be part of 326 homes on a Test Valley site, could be approved by planning chiefs tomorrow.

An application was submitted to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) to create a three storey block of affordable flats in Redbridge Lane, Nursling.

If approved by TVBC's Southern Area Planning Committee tomorrow, a mix of one and two bedroom flats would be created by Bloor Homes, including 17 car parking spaces.

However, residents have hit out the plans, fearing the block of flats will overlook their properties and traffic congestion will increase in the area.

Marie Godwin, who lives in Nutsea Road, Nursling, said: "We live at Plot 118 and the flats look directly into our garden, the kitchen, living room area and our daughters bedroom, resulting in lack of privacy.

"It is a complete eyesore and we feel this should have been built at the end of the estate.

"We are also concerned about the traffic and the extra cars when the residents have visitors."

Alex Offord, who lives in Bodding Avenue, said the block of flats could result in "people fighting for parking", adding more traffic could result in an accident as "children play in the outdoor spaces of the estate".

He stressed: "The loss of the green verge in front of the block seriously impacts the look when entering the estate and does not represent the character of the overall estate."

Jamie Pulford, who lives in Bodding Avenue, said: "This proposed development is directly opposite my property, which now reduces light into my lounge and in three out of my four bedrooms.

"There is also now a big loss of privacy in three of the bedrooms to the front of my property, where my daughters rooms are, and the lounge where we like to spend all of our social time.

"This development should have been located at one end of the estate, it is very large and is a complete eyesore."

He added: "Traffic and safety will no doubt become an issue, as visitors and owners with more than one vehicle look to park their vehicles.

"Currently, all properties have driveways and we don't have this issue, however 12 new apartments will bring in too many vehicles looking for areas to park in."

Nursling & Rownhams Parish Council also objected to the plans, fearing other properties will be overlooked and cited the flat would result in a loss of green space.

A spokesperson from Bloor Homes said: "Bloor Homes is aware the application is going to planning committee with an officer recommendation of approval and we await their decision."
