A BOY has been released following a "serious sexual assault" in Southampton.
Police officers taped off a wooded area just off of Coxford Road on Thursday.
A 14-year-old boy from Southampton who was arrested in connection with the alleged attack has since been released.
Police have declined to give any more details due to operational reasons.
The incident is said to have happened in the Tanners Brook area of the city between 6.45pm and 8pm on Thursday.
Commenting at the time a police spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating an allegation of a serious sexual assault that was reported to have taken place in the Tanners Brook area of Southampton just before 9pm yesterday, (24 Sept).
"A 14-year-old boy from Southampton has been arrested in connection with this incident.
"Officers are in the area today conducting further enquiries."
