PLANS for a new house have been withdrawn by the applicant - despite support for the scheme.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) is no longer studying a proposal to replace a property at Mockbeggar Lane, Ibsley, with a new home.

The local parish council had urged NFDC to reject the application.

In a letter to the authority it criticised the scale of the new housesaying it would be a "significant intrusion" on the street scene.

But Mockbeggar Lane resident Michael Robinson said: "There is plenty of space for such an inspired design, which would enhance the views and ambience of the neighbourhood.

"As the nearest residents to the proposed development we fully support this application."
