A FURRY friend is set to start at a Romsey school in a matter of weeks.
Kobe, a 22-week-old cavapoo, will be welcomed to Romsey Primary School and Nursery in Mercer Way the week after half term, which runs from October 26 to November 1.
The dog belongs to Year 1 teacher, Natalie Yeo, and he will be on duty two days a week in an effort to support children in every class.
The school believes Kobe will help teach children to be responsible, since pupils will have to remember to feed and give him water, as well as how to be patient and compassionate.
Ms Yeo said Kobe will also give children "who don't have dogs at home" a chance to interact with the canine.
Kobe will be introduced to the school this month before he attends the primary school every week from November.
This comes after the school was allocated a Read2Dogs placement in the last academic year when the children got the chance to read to a dog.
