STATIONS across Hampshire are due to be repainted as part of a £1.5 programme.

The programme by South Western Railway’s (SWR) is currently ongoing and will affect 15 of the county’s stations, giving them a new splash of colour.

When SWR took over the South Western Franchise in 2017, they committed to maintaining and enhancing stations across the network.

The company claims that the repainting programme “demonstrates the company’s determination to improve customer service at every stage of the journey”.

Alan Penlington, South Western Railway’s Director of Customer Experience, said: “At SWR, we are committed to improving our performance at every stage of the journey because we know that great customer service consists of more than getting people from A to B.

“Our determination to improve and enhance our stations is just one example of this commitment.

“Our stations sit at the heart of the communities we serve and play a vital role in delivering the quality service our customers expect.

“This £1.5 million investment will smarten up a whole host of stations across our network – including fifteen in Hampshire – and give a tangible boost to the experience of using our services.”

The first phase is already underway and ten stations including Bitterne, Bursledon, Hamble and Netley have either already been repainted, or are in the process of being completed.

Phase two will see an additional six stations in the county given a facelift, with Romsey featuring on that list.

Other areas included in the programme include Portsmouth and Basingstoke.
